“Lady Bird” Film Review

This week, everyone’s favorite Irish actress Saoirse Ronan may star in a film that’s claimed as one of the years best movies. This film is called “Lady Bird.”

In my opinion, she gives the performance of her life in this film as well and managed to make her next film one of the year’s most overrated, but still one of the most entertaining movies of the year. The reason why I say overrated because I feel this flick does not deserve the 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

In “Lady Bird”, Saoirse Ronan plays Christine ‘Lady Bird’ McPherson who is a bratty, lying, self-centered, teenager growing up in Northern California and attending a Catholic High School as well. When it comes to applying for colleges, ‘Lady Bird’ seeks to leave California.

On top of that, she continues to fight against her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom who is a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird’s father loses his job.

This movie is the anti-coming of age story and it almost reminded me of Mean Girls meets’s “Catcher In The Rye.”

Saoirse Ronan gives us the best performance in a leading role as an actress this year and I am sure everyone is going to be talking about her during Oscar Season. The movie is good but it’s NOT Best Picture.

I felt at times it was a little slow and a little cheesy and predictable and the ending killed it for me. Still it was shot beautifully, we have a good idea of who the Oscar for Best Actress will go too but this is no Best Picture but still, it’s worth seeing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 for “Lady Bird.”
