Millennials are obsessed with feeling nostalgia and it shows. The past few years have been rife with musical acts rebooting and now we have some of our favorite early 2000s bands reuniting.

Millennials might be the most nostalgic generation yet, because no one had a single complaint when the Jonas Brothers reunited earlier this year.

The Jonas Brothers established themselves in 2005 and debuted multiple songs on Disney Channel. As their audience grew, they became more mainstream and featured singles on the radio.

Eventually, the trio separated. Kevin Jonas settled into married life after marrying Danielle Deleasa. Joe branched out in a solo career, as did the group’s youngest brother, Nick Jonas. They had 18 songs on the Billboard 100, three top ten hits, and one song that took the number one spot.

One millennial and graduate student, Kayla Sanders, was ecstatic when the Jonas Brothers released their new single, “Sucker,” at the end of February.

“I’ve loved the Jonas Brothers ever since they came out on Disney Channel with their song ‘Year 3000.’ I’ve been to three concerts since they’ve been out and I’m really hoping they continue to make more music because I used to be so obsessed with them,” said Sanders.

Everyone remembers the Backstreet boys. They’re the 90s heartthrobs from Orlando who gained popularity after their hit “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” came out in 1997.

The Backstreet Boys, comprised of Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean, Howie D, and Brian Littrell, released a new single last year called “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”

They also appeared in this year’s Doritos Super Bowl commercial alongside Chance the Rapper, reminding us all why we fell in love with them in the first place.

“The Backstreet Boys were a little before my time since they debuted in the early 90s and I was born in 1999,” said sophomore Michelle Foster. “So, I don’t remember too many of their songs, but I was obsessed with ‘I Want It That Way,’ because of my older sister. She loved them and I love all of the 90s groups that are making comebacks and returning to the scene. Fame seems to come in and out for some people, but it’s also a job and when they’re not in the spotlight, it usually means they don’t have a job. So, I’m happy they’re working again.”

America could never forget the “girl power” group that won everyone over with their fun lyrics: the Spice Girls. Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chisholm, also known as Posh Spice, Ginger Spice, Scary Spice, Baby Spice, and Sporty Spice, respectively, hit the scene in 1994.

Their smash hit “Wannabe” landed them the number one spot on the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It hit number one in 37 countries and propelled them into stardom.

Over 20 years later, everyone is still obsessing over the Spice Girls. They announced they would be going on tour at the end of last year, starting in the U.K. Now, millions of millennials can scream “girl power,” and live life like it’s the 90s.
