Say hello to my little friend, again.
The classic film, “Scarface,” is scheduled to be released with the exact date to be announced at a later time this year.
According to “Variety” magazine, the film will star Diego Luna who previously appeared in “Star Wars: Rogue One.”
There have been many remakes of movies over the years and some students at Sacred Heart University have strong opinions about them.
Some think that the remakes allow audiences to view the movie in a better way due to all the advancements that the film industries have had.
“I enjoy movie remakes, it allows the movie to be seen with more modern technology while still portraying the same storyline. For example, in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ remake the apes are more realistic in the modern version than in the original. I enjoy movie
remakes like these because of the concept that people can see movies remastered, and be a reminder of younger experiences,” said sophomore Anthony Orzo.
On the other hand, some students don’t like movie remakes at all.
“I don’t think that it will be as good as the original. [Scarface] may be a good movie, but it will be overshadowed by the original,” said sophomore Anthony Abano.
According to entertainment and website, The Wrap, the remake will include many changes such as location, inclusion of the Mexican drug cartel and even Tony’s last name. This is exactly what some students are fearful of.
Many students are undecided about whether or not they’re into the movie remakes and aren’t sure if they will see the new “Scarface” when it comes out.
“There are some movies such as ‘Scarface’ that they cannot remake because they were too good the first time,” said sophomore Ryan Smith. “However, there are other movies that are better remade than the original such as ‘The Longest Yard.’”
Some students enjoy these reamkes, but others have their minds already made up in regards to the new films.
“I will not be saying hello to any new movie that comes out trying to replicate this essential and vital part of my childhood,” said Smith.
