Who do you want to be the next Bachelorette?

The sound of popcorn popping in the microwave is heard in the next room while a fuzzy blanket is waiting on the couch.

This is how sophomore Gabriella Lefebvre likes to watch “The Bachelorette,” curled up on the couch eating popcorn.

“I want Madison Prewett to be the next Bachelorette. She is real and normal,” said Lefebvre.

Peter Webber, a 28-year-old pilot from Westlake Village, Calif., is the current bachelor. As he began the season with 30 potential wives, he is now down to three, including Madison Prewett, Victoria Fuller, and Hannah Ann Sluss.

In years past, it is common for the next Bachelorette to be one of the 30 women from the previous season of “The Bachelor.”

Many other students at Sacred Heart shared the same desire to have Prewett represent the new Bachelorette.

Junior Emily Coyle said, “I think she’s awesome because she stands by her morals and even though it’s clear that she does love Peter she still chose herself at the end of the day, which I think embodies a great Bachelorette.”

According to Hollywood Reporter, the last season of “The Bachelorette” reached a record-breaking number of viewers at 5.66 million.

On the February 24 episode of “The Bachelor,” Prewett revealed to Webber that she is saving herself for marriage.

“Madison has a lot of self-respect, so she is not going to just throw herself at anyone. She will be serious about who she likes and who she doesn’t,” said Lefebvre.

Some fans of the show also voiced their support for Madison.

Senior Rob McMullin said, “It’s interesting to see their personalities come out. Madison is staying pure and sticking to her roots, not breaking her morals to be with a guy who may or may not like her in the end.”

Another Bachelor contestant, Victoria Fuller, grabbed fans’ attention, but not in the way Madison has. Many students who watch the show weekly have said that Fuller is too emotional.

“I think Victoria would be the worst Bachelorette because there would just be tears everywhere,” said junior Gabrielle Fezza.

Additionally, junior Kaitlyn Corcoran said, “I do not want Victoria to be the Bachelorette because she’s crazy and I feel like it would be too much drama.”

Hannah Ann Sluss, the last of Peter’s final three, was another possible Bachelorette.

“I don’t want Hannah Ann to be the next Bachelorette,” said freshman Alissa Brandl. “She just bothers me because she seems so fake. Something about her annoys me.”

Corcoran also disapproved of Sluss as the Bachelorette, as she thinks she is going to end up with Peter at the end of the season.

She said, “I think he is going to end up with Hannah Ann because she seems to have the least amount of issues, but I’m not sure it will last.”

But alas,  even though Prewett, Fuller and Sluss were all possible Bachelorettes, they were not the only options. Women from previous seasons of the Bachelor were also in the running to be chosen. And indeed, one has been chosen.

On March 2, it was announced that the next Bachelorette will be Clare Crawley, a contestant on the show from six years ago.

“The Bachelorette” season 16 will begin airing in May on ABC.
