At Your Convenience

Is there anything more convenient than having your favorite fast food delivered to your dorm room door? Doordash, UberEats, and Grubhub give you the ability to order your favorite foods from your favorite food chains and have them delivered right to your door.

When it comes to the experience of the services from Doordash, UberEats, and Grubhub, they have received mixed reviews. Sophomore Teddy Yerardi had frustrating experiences with UberEats. “I have stopped using UberEats due to the fact that something is always missing from the order or the drivers try to say they did not receive that order when they in fact have,” said Yerardi.

“UberEats is the only service I have used. Due to negative experiences, I chose to go myself as it tends to be faster and I’m able to get what I actually want from these places. It was definitely helpful freshman year when we didn’t have cars but once I was able to have mine on campus, I deleted the app just because I knew there would be no use in it,” said Yerardi.

Junior Nicole Longo does not see the need to use any of these apps when you have a meal plan for food on campus.

“Although I live off-campus, I still have a meal plan for dining on-campus. Plus, I also have a kitchen so I do not find myself needing to order food from off-campus restaurants,” said Longo.

Sophomore Nick Pelletier does not feel the need to use off-campus dining when you have a meal plan.

“I don’t use off-campus dining because that would just be a waste of my money,” said Pelletier. “I also don’t think eating all that unhealthy food would be the best for me, while running for the track team at the same time, because I need to stay in the best shape possible.”

Sophomore Natalie Davis enjoys the convenience of the mobile food delivery apps.

“I used to order Chipotle all the time, which was very convenient as I was able to get some of my favorite food without having to leave my dorm,” said Davis. “Unfortunately, Chipotle is no longer an option on UberEats or Doordash. Nothing kills your mood quite like when you’re craving a burrito bowl with some guacamole and you have no way to get it,” said Davis.

Sophomore Michael Corcoran loves the idea of UberEats and DoorDash. “There is nothing better than being able to eat your favorite food from different restaurant. Especially if it is late at night with the dining halls being closed, it allows you to stay inside and avoid the different temperatures outside, and depending on the restaurant, and the time that you order you may be able to get a deal that ultimately allows for you to save money.”
